Somewhere along the way, festival fashion got a little bit… beige.

Don't get us wrong. We LOVE a neutral. Give us a chocolate brown, khaki or black Ibiza look any day of the week.

But festivals?

Festivals are supposed to be bright, bold, slightly ridiculous and FUN.

And for 2027, we think it's time to bring that energy back.

Remember Festival Fashion From 2018 to 2023?

If you were going to festivals, raves or Ibiza between 2018 and 2023, you'll know exactly what we mean.

Festival outfits weren't about blending in.

They were about neon. Metallics. Psychedelic prints. Mesh. Sequins. Animal print. Tiny skirts. Statement swimwear. Colours you probably wouldn't dream of wearing to Tesco.

You could wear a hot pink bikini top with a completely clashing printed skirt, cover yourself in glitter and somehow it just worked.

Your festival wardrobe didn't need to look like your everyday wardrobe.

That was the whole point.

Festival season gave everyone permission to have a little more fun with fashion.

When Did Everything Get So Neutral?

Over the last few years, fashion has understandably moved towards a much more minimal aesthetic.

We've had clean girl. Quiet luxury. Capsule wardrobes. Elevated basics. Neutral colour palettes.

And we get it.

There will always be a place in our wardrobes for pieces that are easy to wear and easy to style.

But when that same aesthetic starts creeping into festival fashion, something gets lost.

A festival is one of the few places where you can wear the outfit that feels like "too much" everywhere else.

So why are we trying so hard to make festival outfits sensible?

2027 Festival Fashion Should Be Fun Again

Our prediction, and possibly our personal mission, for festival fashion in 2027 is simple:

MORE COLOUR.

We want metallic mini skirts catching the sunlight.

We want bright bikinis underneath mesh dresses.

We want psychedelic prints, animal prints and colours that probably shouldn't work together but somehow do.

We want sparkle.

We want texture.

We want tiny tops and dramatic bottoms.

We want outfits that make you immediately start planning which festival you're going to wear them to.

Most importantly, we want people to stop worrying quite so much about whether their festival outfit is "timeless".

It doesn't need to be.

Sometimes fashion can just be fun.

We're Not Cancelling Neutrals

Before the neutral girlies panic, we're not coming for your wardrobes.

A black festival outfit can look incredible. Khaki, cream, chocolate and metallic silver aren't going anywhere at Caleo Cove either.

In fact, some of our favourite looks start with a neutral base.

The difference is in how you style it.

A black mini skirt with a diamanté top.

Khaki with metallic silver.

A neutral bikini underneath a completely sheer printed mesh dress.

Leopard print thrown into an otherwise simple outfit.

Neutral doesn't have to mean boring.

The Caleo Cove version will always have something going on.

The Return of the Statement Festival Outfit

One of the things we loved most about festival fashion between 2018 and 2023 was the commitment.

You didn't just put on an outfit.

You created a festival look.

Hair, makeup, accessories and clothing all became part of it.

And because everyone was experimenting, festival fields became one giant source of outfit inspiration.

For 2027, we'd love to see that return.

Think:

• Colourful psychedelic prints
• Metallic mini skirts
• Sheer and printed mesh
• Bright bikini tops
• Statement bodysuits
• Animal print
• Diamanté and sparkle
• Unexpected colour combinations
• Tiny festival shorts
• Accessories that are absolutely not necessary but make the entire outfit

Basically, if your first thought is "is this a bit much?", you're probably heading in the right direction.

Festival Outfits Should Feel Different From Everyday Clothes

There's another reason we're so passionate about bringing fun festival clothing back.

You spend most of the year dressing for real life.

Work. Uni. Shopping. Dinner. Drinks. Running errands.

Festival season is different.

You're standing in a field listening to your favourite artist with your best friends, probably covered in glitter and holding a drink that cost significantly more than it should have.

Your outfit is allowed to match the occasion.

The same goes for Ibiza.

A beach club outfit doesn't need to make sense in Manchester on a Tuesday afternoon.

That's exactly why it's fun.

Mix It. Clash It. Wear It Again.

Bringing back colourful festival fashion doesn't mean buying an entirely new wardrobe for every event either.

Some of the best festival outfits come from mixing pieces you've collected over the years.

Take one statement skirt and wear it three completely different ways.

Wear your bikini top with shorts one day and underneath a mesh dress the next.

Throw a metallic skirt over your swimwear for Ibiza.

And we think that's much more interesting than buying one complete outfit, wearing it once and forgetting about it.

Wear the neutral outfit if you love it.

Wear head-to-toe black.

Add the sparkle.

Wear something that makes your friends say "OMG, where is that from?"

Because after years of perfectly coordinated neutral wardrobes, we think festival fashion is ready to get a little chaotic again.
